This break has flown by. It was incredibly busy. Let's see how well I can sum it up...
I drove back Friday (3/18), and had a pretty quiet weekend. On Tuesday I took my car in for an oil change (prepare for a rant below), and then had dinner with a friend (we'll call him Adopted Brother, as he is like an older brother to me) and his new-ish girlfriend. They have been officially seeing each other since late January, and I have not been able to meet her yet. She seems really nice! I liked chatting with her, and she seemed to like me, so when I am back in town again we are going to try to grab dinner again.
Wednesday, Mother and I drove down to VA. It was an easy, but very long drive, so we just grabbed dinner in town and crashed at the hotel. Without ranting, I'll try to explain that night. See, I hate sleeping anywhere near Mother. She snores louder than a train (this is proven fact, as we have frequently travelled overnight on trains together). I am a very light sleeper. I had a job interview the next morning. She was snoring so loud that even with noise cancelling headphones and being in the bathroom, she was still too loud for me to sleep. I got an hour of sleep total, in 5-10 minute increments. Not kidding. I tried to sleep in the bathroom. The bathtub was too small, so I grabbed pillows and crashed on the floor. So uncomfortable, but you've got to do what you've got to do. The second night, she felt so bad that she rented me my own room, so I was actually able to sleep. Anyway, moving on.
The job interview went great! The lady brushed off Mother entirely, and Mother had to sit in the car the whole time. Serves her right for inviting herself. She was so offended. But the lady was really nice and straightforward, and we got along great. She offered me the job on the spot! Looks like I am going to be a riding camp counselor this summer! I'm so excited~
After the interview, Mother and I visited Monticello, since it was literally right down the street. The place was really pretty, and the views were breathtaking. If anyone is in the area, it is definitely worth checking it out. The house is really fascinating, too. It has a lot of Jefferson's books and tools in it. Plus, they still grow food in his gardens and there is an archaeology crew working year-round to find more things.
We drove back on Friday, and went straight to the dealership. Allow me to explain (ranty paragraph, feel free to skip). So when I got my car way back in Feb/Mar 2014, they told me that my car was covered for 5 years, and I would never have to pay for services as long as I went to the dealership. Pretty nice deal. Well, they told me to bring the car in every 5,000 miles for the first 50k or so. When I hit 9500 (mar 2015) I went in for my 10k appt. When I hit 11k (aug 2015) I went in for a quick top-off as I was about to drive 4+ hours to school and wanted to make sure the car could do it. The dumbasses apparently just did the 15k service without even bothering to check the mileage or clear it with me. Before the trip to VA I was at 15,019 miles when I pulled in for my car appt. I told them numerous times on the phone, and I made the guy I spoke with in person repeat it to me several times that this was my 15k service. Because my car was at 15k miles. So they take my car, do whatever, give me the paperwork (I checked, it says this was my 15k service), and off I go assuming my car is safe to drive 4+ hours to VA. During the drive down, they called me 12 times, enough to be legally considered harassment. They only leave 2 messages. One was the usual "Let us know how your appt was". The other was just "Hey, this is Blank calling for Blank. Call me back." Nothing else. 12 fucking calls in 4 hours, 2 voicemails. I assume it's just them being fucking dumb and really wanting their gold star. Finally, when we get to the hotel I call them back. Turns out, they're beyond fucking dumb. They didn't even do half the shit they said they did on the paper. "Well, on your records it said you had your 15k service last year, so we just rotated your tires." You're telling me it took you 60 fucking minutes to just rotate my tires, and that you did not, in fact, even change my oil or top off the fluids like your paper you gave me said you did. "Well, you already did your 15k service, so we just figured they were done already. But then we saw it was a long time ago, so you need to come back in so we can do your oil change and other things." WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK. 1) Don't fucking tell me you did something if you didn't. 2) I told you what the fuck I was here for, why the fuck didn't you do it? 3)Why did you not talk to me about "inconsistencies" or changing things while I WAS SITTING IN THE WAITING ROOM RIGHT BEHIND YOU?!?!?!?!?! I was so pissed. So I tell the guy I won't be back until 5 at the absolute earliest, so I told him I could maybe be in by 6pm on Friday. So he fucking makes me an appt for 5pm. Fucking OPEN YOUR EARS YOU FUCKING IDIOT YOU ALREADY FUCKED UP HARD, STOP MAKING IT WORSE. So anyway, Friday morning Mother calls the guy who runs the shop side of the dealership and has a long talk with him about how his people don't listen, don't use their brains, and are incompetent. He's a pretty helpful guy (we've gotten to know each other too well, as this is not the first time this place has fucked up with my car), and he changes the appt time and hangs up so he can go tear that idiot a new one. So when we finally get there, the guy is totally defensive and trying to subtly tell us to fuck off and that it's not his fault. I'm not a dumbass, and I gave it all right back to him and then some, to the point where he stopped even trying to defend himself. We all know he's the one who fucked up. The excuses he was trying to give were like "oh, services expire and all of your services up to your 40k service are all expired already, so we're actually just being nice doing this for you." (who the fuck drives 40k in 2 years?) No, dude. The contract we signed for me buying this car says that I don't have to pay even a penny until the car is paid off. Because this is I think the 6th car we've bought from them. Mother negotiated the hell out of that deal. Don't give me bullshit about them expiring. I'm set and you can sit your ass back down and have the shop do the services I ask. Not asking for you to give me gold hubcaps and put speakers in the trunk, just to change my fucking oil. Not that fucking hard. I had to chuckle because when we finally went to the waiting room we passed the guy who runs the shop on his way out to go bitch out the guy again for giving us lip and not shutting up and just doing what he was supposed to in the first place.
Alright! Rant over. Now on to today (Saturday 3/6). Since I am driving back to school tomorrow, we celebrated Easter today. My middle brother and his wife came over around 4 and we "opened Easter baskets". Mother couldn't find the Easter baskets (probably still boxed up from when we moved last August), so she just set stuff on the table and covered it with dish towels. We finally got to "open" it and we all got a couple candies and a kite. Mine is a little Bob (minion) kite. Mother got herself an eagle, Father got a US Navy airplane, Oldest Brother got a Red Baron, Middle Brother got a Ninja Turtle, and Sister In Law got Elsa. W all went outside and flew them for a little while, which was actually kind of fun. The wind wasn't very consistent, but when it blew we had fun. It was my sister in law's first time actually flying a kite! We then took some family pictures, then had dinner. Now, I'm trying to unpack the things I brought back with me, and get ready to head back tomorrow.
I'm a little sad about my summer work being so far away. I wish I had some consistency. The move in August came out of nowhere, and within 7 days I moved into this house, then 4 hours away up to school. I'm only back here for a few days at a time every month and a half or so. It's exhausting and disheartening and lonely constantly moving. I feel like I am living out of my car. I don't like it. I just want to finally settle in somewhere for longer than 2 months. I need stability. All of this moving around is messing me up.
Anyway, hope everyone is having a good weekend!

(I have a question! Would anyone be interested if I posted clips from my writing here? I want to get back into working on my series, but I haven't been feeling it. I usualy feel more motivated when someone is reading or waiting for the next update. So if I posted excerpts or scenes, would anyone be interested in reading? I can also add people to a list so not everyone has to read if they don't want more stuff cluttering their f-feed.)
