nf793: (coheed)
Another week come and gone. Another list of events that have ocurred.

I really need to start jotting down notes of what I do every day. I've been staring at this blank entry screen for the last five minutes or more trying to remember anything that happened earlier this week, and I'm drawing a blank.

I had a lot of progress in my riding class this week! On Tuesday, my instructor put me on a lunge line for part of the lesson. I was riding Chester, who behaved himself, but his laziness made it a bit difficult. My instructor had me work on my balance to start, and then focused on my seat at the canter. She kept telling me what I was doing, and what I should be doing, but I could never get it right for some reason. By the end of the lungeing session, I was riding the canter like a pro! I even managed to carry it over on Thursday whn I was riding Irish. The weather was nice, so we rode outside Thursday. Oh! On Tuesday I even impressed my instructor, my two classmates, and all 6 people in the riding class after us. Chester is known for being lazy and spooking at everything just because he can. I've ridden him so many times that I know his tells for when he is going to spook, and I don't put up with any of his nonsense or laziness. My instructor was really impressed with how I handled his spooking, especially when he usually gets people off with his nonsense. I made her even more impressed at the end of the lesson. She had us ride a short course. Chester likes to break to a slow trot over every jump, and I was getting really fed up with it, so I got after him, and at the end of the lesson I had him cantering the entire course start to finish, and actually putting effort into the jumps! I was so proud of that last course we did~ Everyone there complimented me. It makes me happy to look back and compare the first time I rode him to how we rode on Tuesday. We went from him spooking so bad he pulled every muscle in my groin and tore the nerves in my left shoulder/chest, to riding a beautiful course! I'm not sure that the nerve damage will ever heal fully, but having my pride still intact after riding him is a nice change of pace. Here is a picture of me and Chester from Tuesday~
Had an AWESOME ride today on Chester~ It was far from perfect, but he and I have come such a long way. Even got compliments from my instructor and fellow riders! That is why Chester has been awarded the honor of being my #SteedoftheDay ♡ he deserves it

I don't think that anything terribly noteworthy happened the rest of the week. The weekend has been slow and boring. Friday evening was kind of fun. Dragon Age Girl and I went to Applebees for dinner, and for the most part it was enjoyable. She spent the first half hour glued to her phone, though. It frustrates me, because she will sit there scrolling through facebook and answering Dragon Age RPs and won't even notice that I said anything. Honestly, in the first half hour I had more interesting and fulfilling conversation with our waiter. After dinner we swung by Wal-Mart and things got a little better since she can't play on her phone and walk at the same time. She legitimately can't. She trips over herself every time. I went to pick up a new desk fan since the motor in mine officially died and I have to have the breeze. I get really claustrophobic if I don't have a breeze going. It happens even in open areas. We searched every aisle and asked around, but they did not have even one fan smaller than a box fan. Not one. I ended up getting myself an air purifier, which, as it turns out, is pretty much the same thing. I always thought they were supposed o be silent, but this one has a nice level of noise and provides a really good breeze. Plus, it can't hurt to clean up the air in this room, especially since my roommates like to smoke who knows what when they think I'm not in, and I always come back to find my room reeking of pot. I wouldn't mind except that it makes me sick to my stomach. I mean, if that's your hobby then good for you, but it makes me physically ill, so I personally will pass, thanks. Anyway, when we were at Wal-Mart, we swung by the gaming aisle where we encountered this attractive guy who struck up a conversation and was flirting with us. I started flirting back, trying to get Dragon Age Girl in on it, too, but it was all going way over her head. She had absolutely no idea what was going on. She and I ended up walking away, so a few aisles over I told her he'd been flirting, and she looked horrified because she hadn't even suspected a thing. Oh, child...

TV/Movies: I am on S3:E15 of One Tree Hill. Things are starting to get dramatic in regards to suspects in Dan's attempted murder. They finally said who it was, and I was actually a bit surprised. I am getting annoyed with the whole Nathan/Haley marriage thing, and I know I'm a horrible person for wishing they would just split up. I'm also getting increasingly frustrated with the Brooke/Lucas situation. I really don't care for Brooke. I haven't since the first episode. But at least I have someone on the show I dislike more than her. Rachel. Come on, Mouth, you can do so much better than her!

On the Supernatural front, I ams on S6:E17. I think I am almost out of the Armageddon arc, which is nice. I was getting bored of it, if no one could tell. It only took a few months to get through season 5 and most of season 6. I gotta say, though, the soulless Sam arc was just dumb, in my opinion. Seriously? His soul was just stuck down there in hell with Lucifer and Michael and his half-brother, and then Death could just waltz in and get it? And now he is fine as long as he doesn't think too hard about it? Ugh, th writers really need to do better.

Today, I watched the movie Spectral. It. Was. PHENOMENAL! It managed to have some realistic science/physics, just the right amount of action and explosions, and a pinch of the supernatural. I'll admit, in the beginning I wasn't too sure and I wasn't very into it, but by the 40 minute mark I was glued. Though I do think that they picked some more complicated, less ideal plans of action at points, and left a pretty big question at the end of "WHY?!" Putting that aside, though, I walked away thoroughly happy with the movie and I recommend it.

I also watched Good Kids. It was ok, I think. It was reminiscent of the mid-2000s summer coming-of-age comedies a la Michael Cera, but was a bit less fulfilling. It had me laughing a good chunk of the time, but for some reason I felt like it was missing something. It just seemed tame to me, but was a good attempt. Not a bad movie, though, so I gave it 4/5 stars.

Books: I finally finished reading The Boy with the Cuckoo Clock Heart by Mathias Malzieu. I am madly in love with the animated movie musical based off of the book (Jack and the Cuckoo Clock Heart). Basically, it is the story of a boy who was born on the coldest day on earth. His heart was frozen solid, so the midwife replaced it with a clock, and he had to abide by three rules, including not falling in love, because his heart wouldn't be able to handle it. Well, when he is 10 years old, he falls madly and passionately and hard for this girl, and a few years later travels across Europe to find her. It's a roller coaster love story filled with a unique cast of characters. The movie has a fantastic and catchy rock score not typically found in musicals. My favorite line from the book: "People might be fascinated by your wounded heart, but that won't make them love you for who you are."

Gaming: I played a little more Destiny. I even caved and joined Planet Destiny in case I need a fireteam or want to raid again. I really do love this game, and am excited for Destiny 2, whenever that decides to finish production and become a thing. OH! And I am SO EXCITED!!! I preordered Horizon Zero Dawn!!! It looks like it is going to be such a cool game~ It is set to unlock in 24 hours! I am probably going to start playing it Tuesday evening or Wednesday since I will have a lot more time. Shameless plug: if anyone wants to watch me play it, you can catch me on Twitch.

I hate when people are stuck on their phones! Its so rude. Like what's the point of hanging out if you're not actually there? To be honest, I play silly phone games (too much) but I try to not do it when I'm trying to do something with someone.

I agree! I invited her to dinner and she was all for it, then was stuck to her phone half the time >.< I play little phone games, too, but not when I'm trying to have a conversation or am hanging out with someone. It's rude and disrespectful to the person you're with.
